The Foundation Announces Call For Nominations For The 2025 Herb Wegner Memorial Awards
MADISON, WI (May 1, 2024) – The National Credit Union Foundation (the Foundation) is thrilled to announce the opening of nominations for the prestigious 2025 Herb Wegner Memorial Awards. These awards stand as the highest national honors within the credit union movement, spotlighting exemplary leaders, initiatives, and organizations that have left an indelible mark on the community.
Presented annually at the Foundation Dinner—an esteemed fundraising event—the Herb Wegner Memorial Awards serve as a beacon of recognition for those whose contributions have propelled the credit union movement forward.
Nominations are open in two distinct categories:
1. Outstanding Individual Achievement: To honor an individual who is dedicated to promoting the credit union philosophy, has created innovative concepts, and provided leadership that has had a significant and lasting impact on the local, regional, national and/or international credit union movement with measured results.
2. Outstanding Organization or Program: To honor an organization, program or business for their innovative concepts, products, and services that have had a significant impact on the local, regional, national and/or international credit union movement with measured results.
“The Foundation Dinner marks a pivotal moment for the credit union community to honor its contemporary trailblazers. The Herb Wegner awardees serve as catalysts, inspiring us all to elevate our dedication to credit unions and to enhance financial well-being for everyone,” shared Gigi Hyland, Executive Director of the Foundation.
Hyland added, “Nominees should embody the mission of ‘people helping people’ within the credit union movement, striving to create opportunities and uplift the lives of members, employees, and communities.”
Nominations for the 2025 Herb Wegner Memorial Awards are now open and can be submitted by filling out the nomination packet available at https://www.ncuf.coop/files/2025-Herb-Wegner-Memorial-Awards-Nominations.pdf. The deadline for submissions is July 26, 2024. Award recipients will be notified in September.
Nominations can come from individuals and/or organizations. Selections will be made by the Foundation’s Herb Wegner Awards Selection Committee, representative of the Foundation board, credit unions, leagues and associations and the broader credit union movement. Scoring is based on information provided on the nomination form and in the letters or videos of recommendation.
Awards will be presented at the 36th annual National Credit Union Foundation Dinner Presenting the Herb Wegner Memorial Awards on Monday, March 3, 2025, in conjunction with the America’s Credit Unions Governmental Affairs Conference (GAC) in Washington, D.C.
