Sam Plester

The National Credit Union Foundation has announced the addition of Sam Plester, CUDE, as the new Marketing & Communications Director effective June 14, 2021.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sam to the Foundation team,” said Gigi Hyland, Executive Director at the Foundation. “His proven experience as a master storyteller and his keen strategic communications acumen will bring great value to the Foundation as we strive to more clearly demonstrate the Foundation’s work and impact.”

As Director, Plester will develop, guide and execute all aspects of the Foundation’s marketing and communications strategy including digital marketing, website management, enhancement and growth of the Foundation’s brand, Foundation impact storytelling, and disaster relief communications. He will work closely with the team and Board to identify and seize opportunities to foster greater awareness and support for the Foundation’s impact work to ignite credit unions to place employee, member, and community financial well-being at the center of their strategy, inspire credit unions to leverage their cooperative values to reinforce an organizational culture that empowers and motivates employees, and respond when disaster strikes and help credit unions increase their business resiliency through the cooperative value of “people helping people”.

Plester joins the Foundation with 18 years of marketing and communications experience. Most recently, Plester led CUNA Mutual Group’s corporate creative team. Prior to that, he held public and private sector roles across the USA and UK. He earned his Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE) designation in 2016.

“I, like so many across the credit union movement, am continually impressed with the ambition, vision and drive of the Foundation,” added Plester. “I am excited to play my part in improving more people’s lives through credit unions.”
