National Credit Union Foundation 2025 Impact Report

Impact data highlights the power of a movement advancing financial well-being

The National Credit Union Foundation today released its 2025 Impact Report, highlighting how credit unions across the country are working together to improve financial well-being and strengthen communities.

The report reflects a defining year for the Foundation, marked by a renewed mission and vision and a sharpened focus on equipping credit unions to advance financial well-being in meaningful and practical ways.

“Credit unions are already leading this work every day—walking alongside their members through financial challenges and opportunities alike,” said Lauren Culp, Executive Director of the National Credit Union Foundation. “Our role at the Foundation is to help strengthen that journey by equipping, connecting, and supporting the movement as it continues improving lives and communities.”

The report highlights key areas of impact across the movement in 2025:

  • Developing leaders: Nearly 250 credit union professionals completed the Credit Union Development Education (DE) program, strengthening a growing network of purpose-driven leaders across the industry.
  • Fueling innovation: Grant-supported initiatives reached more than 2,200 youth transitioning out of foster care, helping expand access to financial education, savings, and long-term financial stability.
  • Responding in times of need: Through CUAid, more than $379,000 was distributed to support nearly 250 credit union employees and volunteers impacted by natural disasters.
  • Convening the movement: More than 1,100 leaders, partners, and advocates gathered at the Foundation Gala and Herb Wegner Memorial Awards to celebrate leadership and strengthen connections across the credit union movement.

The report also outlines the Foundation’s continued evolution toward helping credit unions operationalize financial well-being through leadership development, collaboration, shared learning, and emerging programming designed to support the future of the movement.

“Improving financial well-being is not the work of any one organization alone,” Culp added. “It requires partnership, shared purpose, and a movement committed to helping people move forward. We’re proud to do this work with and through credit unions.”
