What piqued your interest in joining the Foundation Board?
Over my almost 44-year career I have always admired the NCUF’s commitment to member financial health and helping credit unions in times of need.
What are you most proud of during your time on the Foundation Board?
I am one of the newest members of the Board. I am proud to have been selected to the Board and have the opportunity work with a passionate and dedicated Board and Foundation team.
What is the Foundation’s most important role within the credit union system?
The Foundation has several key roles in the credit union system. First to create the next generation of credit union disciples and advocates with the CUDE program. This is very important for the sustainability of understanding the philosophy and history of the industry. Secondly there is the creation of education and knowledge for financial health and lastly helping credit unions and members in times of catastrophic need.
Why do you think it’s important for the credit union system to support the Foundation and its work?
The National Credit Union Foundation is a vital part of the bedrock of the overall credit union movement. The purpose of the Foundation keeps us all grounded in our roots and it is a solid reminder of why the credit union industry exists. We have to continue to invest in and build future generations of advocates for our members and the unrepresented.
What inspires you to continue your work within the credit union system?
I am passionate about making a difference in people’s lives and the Foundation provides me with a platform to make difference in the entire credit union industry.
What’s one thing – either industry-related or not – you learned in the last 6-12 months?
Not a new learning, but a recent reminder. Giving positive and negative feedback is a gift and unlike fine wine, does not get better with age.
What is your favorite hobby?
Being outside on or near the water.
What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?
I love to cook.
