The Foundation opens nominations for the 2027 Herb Wegner Memorial Awards

The National Credit Union Foundation has officially opened nominations for the 2027 Herb Wegner Memorial Awards. This prestigious award recognizes the leaders, organizations, and programs shaping the future of the credit union movement.
The Herb Wegner Memorial Awards are the highest national honors in the U.S. credit union movement. Since 1989, the Foundation has proudly hosted this annual tradition, celebrating people and organizations that have made extraordinary, lasting contributions to improving financial well-being and advancing the credit union movement.
Each year, these awards spotlight the individuals and initiatives that embody the very best of the movement. From visionary leadership and innovation to meaningful impact in communities across the country and around the world.
“Each year, the Foundation Gala leaves our more than 1,000 attendees inspired by the bold vision, leadership, and transformational impact of our Wegner award winners,” said Lauren Culp, Executive Director of the National Credit Union Foundation. “As we open nominations for the 2027 Herb Wegner Awards, we invite you to nominate an individual, organization, or program whose work embodies the credit union values and a deep commitment we all share to improve financial well-being.”
The Foundation encourages the entire credit union movement to participate in the nomination process and help elevate the stories that define who we are—and where we’re going. Nominations will be open until Sunday, May 31, 2026. The awards presentation will be held on March 1, 2027, in Washington, D.C., during the Governmental Affairs Conference.
