What piqued your interest in joining the Foundation Board?

I had been impressed by the heart of the work, the hands and feet doing the work, and the trajectory of the impact I saw from the Foundation and believe is a critical part of the future of the credit union movement. I took some time to explore the Foundation more, to understand its purpose, and it’s why, and I was impressed with how closely aligned the Foundation was with our credit union, TRUE Community Credit Union. I found myself drawn to the impact and potential impact of the NCUF.

What are you most proud of during your time on the Foundation Board?

I have only been on the Board for a short time, but I am proud to be part of the new mission and vision of the Foundation.

What is the Foundation’s most important role within the credit union system?

Connecting to the credit union system through support and impact while growing and equipping generations of credit union Kool-Aid drinkers.

Why do you think it’s important for the credit union system to support the Foundation and its work?

The Foundation is such a beautiful extension of the credit union system and the stories it has to tell.

What inspires you to continue your work within the credit union system?

The impact and stories.

What’s one thing – either industry-related or not – you learned in the last 6-12 months?

It’s not a new thing necessarily, but the credit union taxation risk reminded me of how strong our industry is and how beautifully we mount a defense together!

What is your favorite hobby?

Pickleball, isn’t it everyone’s favorite?

What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know?

I was adopted at six weeks of age by two amazing humans! My birth father is from Gaza and was not a US Citizen when I was born. Had he been, he told me he would have sent me to Gaza to be raised by his mom. Oh, how my life would look differently today! Grateful for the plan for my life!
