“Financial counseling is something all credit unions should be
offering to their members.”
- Sue Smith
Graduate of Montana’s first
enhanced FiCEP class
The Enhanced FiCEP program is a unique partnership between the Foundation, CUNA's Center for Professional Development (CUNA CPD), credit union leagues and credit unions to train staff who are then able to give professional financial counseling and education to help members better prepare for their future and to assist when they are faced with financial difficulties.
Since starting the program five years ago, we've already worked with 448 credit unions in 25 states and graduated 1,655 students. The Enhanced FiCEP program concluded the past year
with 275 new credit union staff in 9 states from 95 credit unions becoming Certified Credit Union Financial Counselors (CCUFC), and will continue to grow in 2016.
Until now students have had the option of attending a face-to-face
school or through self-study. Through this enhanced version of the
program, students not only get the self-study guides, but it includes 8
webinars (1 per module) which will review the printed materials and add
real-life experiences, as well as two in-person meetings which will
feature networking, education and proctored exams.
