NCUF Consultant's Book on Untapped Markets Wins Award

The book used as the basis for the National Credit Union Foundation’s new educational program has earned recognition as the best business book among 2,690 entries in the 2007 Independent Publisher Book Awards.

Untapped: Creating Value in Underserved Markets (www.untappedbook.com) won the Gold Award in the Independent Publisher Book Awards’ Business Books category. Untapped is authored by National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) consultant John Weiser, who facilitates NCUF’s Social Impact Management Institutes.

“The Untapped book demonstrates how other organizations have grown by reaching out to their communities and embracing socially responsibility in ways that are relevant to the challenges facing today’s credit unions,” observed NCUF Executive Director Steve Delfin, who hired Weiser as NCUF’s strategic planning consultant in 2005. “We believe John’s extensive marketplace research and experience adds tremendous practical knowledge to credit union educational programs.”

Wesier's opening presentation at each Social Impact Management Institute reveals opportunities to attract new members and new revenue from underserved markets in ways that create benefits for credit unions and their communities. The objective: to help credit unions grow while making a social impact.

Weiser is a globally recognized facilitator and partner in the international philanthropic firm Brody * Weiser * Burns, based in Branford, Conn. Weiser wrote Untapped as a practical guide for managers on how to buy from, hire from, and sell to underserved markets in ways that create benefits for corporations and communities alike.
