NCUF Donates $10,000 to Freedom First FCU/Virginia Tech Memorial Fund

“Several victims of this tragedy were credit union members, as are many survivors," said NCUF Deputy Director Steve Bosack. "Words can't express the grief we feel for these students and their families, but we hope that donations from the credit union community will help them begin the healing process."

The $200 million Freedom First FCU has been serving the students, alumni, faculty, and staff of Virginia Tech since 1986 and remains the only full-service financial institution on campus, with two branch locations at the Squires Student Center.

Donations to the FFFCU/Virginia Tech Memorial Fund will be directed towards the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University’s Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund.

NCUF joins the Virginia Credit Union League, which has donated $5,000 to the fund. Rick Pillow, president of the league, said, in thanking NCUF, "Words do not express how much this means to not only the Virginia Tech community but the entire Virginia credit union family. It is times such as this that makes us all proud to be part of such a caring and giving organization as the National Credit Union Foundation."
