NCUF Hires Josie Collins as Resource Development & Donor Relations Director
Former CUES Councils Liaison Takes the Lead on NCUF Fundraising
The National Credit Union Foundation (NCUF) on June 2 appointed Josie Collins to its top fundraising and donor relationship management position. Collins now carries the title of Resource Development & Donor Relations Director and is taking the lead on growing the $360 million Community Investment Fund, attracting corporate supporters and individual donors, as well as managing NCUF’s annual public awareness event, the Herb Wegner Memorial Awards.
Collins comes to NCUF from the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES), where she served as the Council Liaison and Awards Competition Coordinator. As CUES Council Liaison, Collins managed relationships with credit union executives and volunteer boards of 25 Councils providing educational programs on a regional basis. While developing new Councils and supporting existing ones, Collins also worked with national and regional sponsors, as well as corporate credit unions and leagues.
As Awards Competition Coordinator, Collins coordinated the 25 Councils’ awards programs, and managed CUES’ nationally recognized marketing competition, the Golden Mirror Awards.
“Josie has a strong background working with credit union CEOs and senior executives – the kinds of leaders who support the credit union community and support NCUF,” said NCUF Executive Director Steve Delfin.
Making the Case for NCUF Support
“We believe the case for supporting NCUF is relevant to the mission of credit unions and increasingly compelling,” Delfin explained. “Our work to help credit unions better serve working families and low-wealth households through REAL Solutions has gained traction and is now a formal program with 30 credit union leagues and over 500 participating credit unions.”
At the same time, Delfin noted, “Development Education, CUAid.coop and NCUF’s Innovation Grants are all making strategic impact by empowering credit unions to serve members who most need help. NCUF is also the largest contributor to the coalition of America’s Credit Unions underwriting Biz Kid$ -- the first credit union-sponsored financial education series on national public television.”
“But we need to continue to tell our story,” Delfin emphasized. “With Josie’s strong communications and relationship-building skills, she can help us reach out to supporters who will help build upon NCUF’s programs and grants to benefit the entire credit union community.”
Prior to her five years at CUES, Collins analyzed the credit union marketplace at Survey Research Associates in Madison, Wisconsin. She administered credit union executive compensation surveys, leveraged web-based technology, and prepared custom compensation reports for CEOs and senior managers.
In 1993, Collins earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Sociology and Political Science from Edgewood College in Madison.
Collins is now based in NCUF’s office in Madison. She can be reached at firstname.lastname@example.org or 800-356-9655, ext. 4397.
Collins replaces Kris Ackley, who resigned from NCUF to move to her home state of Minnesota.
