| Durham, NC At the North Carolina Credit Union League annual conference, Latino Community Credit Union earned first place in the Dora Maxwell Award for Social Responsibility with its financial education program, Building a Better Future. An overwhelming majority of LCCU's 50,000 members had little or no experience with insured financial services. So financial literacy plays a fundamental role in LCCU's mission to integrate its members into the U.S. financial system. |

| Ithaca, NY The Tompkins Weekly profiled recently retired CEO Bill Myers, who started Alternatives FCU 28 years ago. In this article, Myers is described as "a virtual guru of alternative banking and a nationally recognized hero of empathic financing."
Today, Myers is a Field Coach for NCUF's signature program, REAL Solutions. Myers is sharing his expertise with credit unions and leagues in several states to develop products that will help them better serve people with low wealth.
Myers will also participate in a new grant NCUF has received from the Annie E. Casey Foundation to research affordable credit union loans for low-income car-buyers. |
